Ford Fiesta: Supplemental Restraint System / Side Curtain Airbag. Removal and Installation
Removal
WARNING:
The following procedure prescribes critical repair steps
required for correct restraint system operation during a crash. Follow
all notes and steps carefully. Failure to follow step instructions may
result in incorrect operation of the restraint system and increases the
risk of serious personal injury or death in a crash.
NOTE:
Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Depower the SRS .
Refer to: Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Depowering and Repowering
(501-20B Supplemental Restraint System, General Procedures).

Remove the headliner.
Refer to: Headliner - 4-Door (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
Refer to: Headliner - 5-Door (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).

Disconnect the side curtain airbag electrical connector.
-
Vehicles with a roof opening panel, remove the retainers and the bracket.
-

Remove the bolts.
Torque:
80 lb.in (9 Nm)

Remove the pin-type retainer.
-
-
Remove the bolts.
Torque:
80 lb.in (9 Nm)
-
Remove the pin-type retainer.
-
Detach the side curtain airbag bracket and pin-type retainers.

Detach the side curtain airbag retainers from the sheet metal.
-
Detach the side curtain airbag retainer from the sheet metal.
-
Remove the side curtain airbag.
-
Slide the side curtain airbag rearward.
-
Disengage the T-tab from the sheet metal and remove the side curtain airbag.
Installation
WARNING:
Incorrect repair techniques or actions can cause an
accidental pyrotechnic device deployment. Make sure the supplemental
restraint and pedestrian protection system (if equipped) is depowered
before reconnecting the component. Refer to the depowering General
Procedure in section 501-20B. Failure to precisely follow depowering
instructions could result in serious personal injury from an accidental
deployment.
WARNING:
Before installing a Safety Canopy® or side air curtain
module, inspect the roofline for any damage. If necessary, the sheet
metal must be reworked to its original condition and structural
integrity. Install new fasteners if damaged and remove foreign material.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in the Safety Canopy®
or side air curtain deploying incorrectly, which increases the risk of
serious personal injury or death in a crash.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Repower the SRS .

If the fluid is spilled on the paintwork, the affected area must be immediately washed down with cold water.
Master Cylinder
NOTE:
When a new brake master cylinder has been installed, it
should be primed to prevent air from entering the system.
NOTE:
Make sure the area around the master cylinder cap is clean and free of foreign material.
Remove the brake fluid reservoir cap.
