Ford Fiesta: Side Panel Sheet Metal Repairs / Rocker Panel Inner Reinforcement - 5-Door. Removal and Installation

Special Tool(s) / General Equipment

Removal

1.   WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this manual, refer to health and safety warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

   NOTE: The rocker panel inner reinforcement is made of dual phase (DP) 780 steel and cannot be sectioned it must be replaced at the factory seams.

   Refer to: Body Repair Health and Safety and General Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).
   

1. Remove the following items:
   Refer to: Rocker Panel - 5-Door (501-29 Side Panel Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
   Refer to: B-Pillar and Reinforcement (501-29 Side Panel Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
   Refer to: A-Pillar Assembly (501-29 Side Panel Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
   

1. Drill out the spot welds and remove the rocker panel reinforcement.
   Use the General Equipment: Spot Weld Drill Bit

Installation

1. NOTE: The rocker panel inner reinforcement is made of dual phase (DP) 780 steel and cannot be sectioned it must be replaced at the factory seams.

   Install, clamp and spot weld the new rocker panel inner reinforcement.
   Use the General Equipment: Locking Pliers
   Use the General Equipment: Resistance Spotwelding Equipment

1. Install the following items:
   Refer to: B-Pillar and Reinforcement (501-29 Side Panel Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
   Refer to: A-Pillar Assembly (501-29 Side Panel Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
   Refer to: Rocker Panel - 5-Door (501-29 Side Panel Sheet Metal Repairs, Removal and Installation).
