Ford Fiesta: Rear Suspension / Rear Shock Absorber. Removal and Installation

Removal

With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist.
Refer to: Jacking and Lifting - Overview (100-02 Jacking and Lifting, Description and Operation).

Support the rear beam axle assembly.
Use the General Equipment: Transmission Jack

Remove the upper shock absorber bolts.
-
Remove the shock absorber lower nut and bolt and remove the shock absorber.
Installation
-
NOTE:
Only tighten the nuts finger tight at this stage.
Position the shock absorber and install the shock absorber lower bolt and nut.

Position the shock absorber and install the shock absorber upper bolts.
Torque:
18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

On both sides.
Position the axle stand supporting the beam axle. Lower
the hoist maintaining 5mm gap between vehicle and the hoist.
Use the General Equipment: Vehicle/Axle Stands

Tighten the lower shock absorber bolt.
Torque:
85 lb.ft (115 Nm)
