Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

  1.   WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this manual, refer to health and safety warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).
  1. Remove the wheel and tire.
    Refer to: Wheel and Tire (204-04A Wheels and Tires, Removal and Installation).
    1. NOTICE: Make sure that no load is placed on the brake hose.

      Remove the brake hose bracket bolt.
      Torque: 97 lb.in (11 Nm)
    1. Remove the bolts and position the brake caliper and anchor plate assembly aside.
      Torque: 26 lb.ft (35 Nm)
  1. NOTICE: Make sure that the mating faces are clean and free of foreign material.

    NOTE: Note the position of the components before removal.

    Remove the brake pads.
  1. Retract the brake caliper piston into the brake caliper bore.
    Use the General Equipment: Brake Caliper Piston Retractor

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. Depress the brake pedal, check the brake fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir and top up as necessary with brake fluid.

    NOTICE: Suspension fasteners are critical parts that affect performance of vital components and systems. Failure of these fasteners may result in major service expense.
