Ford Fiesta 2014 - 2019 Service Manual / Climate Control System / Climate Control System - General Information / Climate Control System - Vehicles With: Electronic Automatic Temperature Control (EATC) - Overview. Description and Operation

Overview

The climate control system consists of the following components:

  • A/C compressor
  • A/C compressor clutch assembly
  • A/C condenser core
  • A/C evaporator core
  • Receiver/drier
  • Connecting refrigerant lines
  • Thermostatic Expansion Valve (TXV)
  • Heater core and evaporator core housing
  • HVAC control module
  • IPC
  • Ambient air temperature (AAT) sensor
  • Evaporator temperature sensor
  • Center register air discharge temperature sensor
  • Footwell air discharge temperature sensor
  • In-vehicle temperature sensor
  • Sunload sensor
  • Air distribution door actuator
  • Air inlet door actuator
  • Temperature door actuator
  • Blower motor
  • Blower motor speed control

The EATC system heats or cools the vehicle interior depending on the HVAC control panel selection.

  • The driver may override the automatic mode of operation.
  • The control panel selection determines heating or cooling, air distribution and enables blower motor operation.
  • The temperature control setting determines the outlet air temperature.
  • The fan speed control varies the blower motor speed.
  • During A/C operation, the system reduces the relative humidity of the air inside the vehicle.
