Ford Fiesta: Battery, Mounting and Cables / Battery Disconnect and Connect. General Procedures

Disconnect

  1.   WARNING: Before beginning any service procedure in this section, refer to Safety Warnings in section 100-00 General Information. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

    Follow the health and safety precautions.
    Refer to: Health and Safety Precautions (100-00 General Information, Description and Operation).

NOTE: Battery cable with a battery monitoring sensor shown. Battery cable without a battery monitoring sensor similar.

  1. Loosen the nut and position the negative battery cable.
    Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)
  1. NOTE: To interrupt power to the vehicle electrical system, disconnect the battery ground cable only. It is not necessary to disconnect the positive battery cable.

    Loosen the nut and position the positive battery cable.
    Torque: 44 lb.in (5 Nm)

Connect

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  1. If equipped with power windows, perform the window motor initialization.
    Refer to: Power Door Window Initialization (501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms, General Procedures).

    Remove the nuts and position aside the remote brake fluid reservoir.
    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm) Remove the strut and spring assembly upper mount nuts.
    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)
